SHOCKING! Senate Reveals Why Young Nigerians Are Still Not Employed After Graduating Many Years

The Senate has recently alleged on Wednesday that many Nigerian youths who have graduated over 15years ago do not have employment because some of the federal civil services is secretly conducting recruitment which only favors those that they know.

However, this issue was brought up by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Federal Character Commission and Inter- Governmental Affairs, Senator Danjuma La’ ah, while defending the 2022 budget report before the Appropriation panel of the red chamber.

However, he revealed that these officials carry out this act with an excuse that the federal government placed an embargo on employment.

Meanwhile, it was reported the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige stated that the Federal Government suspended the employment of personnel in August this year, because the ‘ economy was not in good shape’ .

And because of this, the government had to create small jobs and empowerment programs to support ‘ social safety nets and establish social protection system’ .

Notwithstanding, Senator Dajuma insisted that several people are retiring voluntarily but he doesn’ t know how they are been replaced. He noted that even the heads of federal ministries in the country claim that they do have any idea that people are been recruited.

With this, the Senate, charged all the various federal ministries and agencies to start recruiting young Nigerian graduates instead of secretly replacing the retired civil servants with unqualified individuals.

” Some people are taking advantage of the situation (embargo on employment) but our committee is desirous to do the right thing. We are determined that there are jobs for the graduates we have in this country, no matter what it takes.

We discovered that young Nigerians who graduated from higher institutions some 15 years ago had yet to gain employment. The development had aggravated insecurity all over the place including insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities.

Our committee has been going to ministries, departments, and agencies of government that they must start recruitment instead of doing secret replacements.

We had even asked them to increase the personnel cost in their budgets so that they could employ people. Many people are being secretly employed but those in charge are claiming that there is an embargo on employment. I don’ t know where they got that from.

There is no embargo anywhere but some of the officials of government are so myopic that they decide to take advantage of the situation. People are retiring voluntarily but we don’ t know how they are being replaced. We must know the particular number of people they want to employ. “
