The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have dominated Nigeria’ s political landscape (PDP).
One could argue that if there is an election, either the PDP or the APC will win. It’ s only on rare occasions that one might start to think about alternate options.
Many people predicted that one of the three senatorial districts in Anambra state would be won by the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), or the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) during the senate elections. However, Ifeanyi Ubah, the chairman of Capital Oil and Gas, was elected to the Anambra South Senate seat on the platform of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
Ubah Ifeanyi And The Senatorial Election
Mr. Ubah, the state’ s past governorship candidate, defeated Chris Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nicholas Ukechukwu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Following the election, the YPP gained traction, declaring that they are prepared to confront any party in any election in the state.
It was also gathered that Ubah’ s election victory put a stop to the Uba brothers’ years of dominance in the Anambra South Senatorial District in some parts of the state.
Senator Ifeanyi is the only current male Senator in Anambra state, since the other two senatorial districts are represented by Stella Oduah (Female) of the PDP in the Anambra North senatorial district and Uche Lilian (Female) of the PDP in the Anambra Central senatorial district.
Since becoming Senator, he has had a long list of accomplishments, including his empowerment initiatives, training, and distributing monies to constituents, among other things.
Ifeanyi Ubah is the only Senator in Nigeria who was elected to the Senate by a political party other than the PDP or the APC.
In An Interview With Premium Times, He Was Asked How Sure He Was About Defeating PDP And APC Candidates, See His Reponse;
” What’ s the big deal if I beat them in the Senate election? ”
The governorship election will follow in the footsteps of the senate election. I can tell you why the Senate election is more tough than the governorship.
The presidential election was held concurrently with the Senate election. As a result, you have forces operating outside of the Senate. On the same day, you have the House of Representatives election.
So, while you’ re fighting for the presidency, the House of Representatives and Senate elections were held on the same day.
Because the former governor of my state was the PDP vice- presidential candidate in 2019, there was a bandwagon effect that helped the PDP win in 2019. Everyone was leaning in close to him. Uche Ekwunife was an APC candidate who switched to the PDP a few months before the election.
Uche Ekwunife was an APC candidate who switched to the PDP a few months before the election.
Stella Oduah was a member of APGA, and the organization was attempting to play games with her, so she moved.
Uche Ekwunife, a PDP candidate, defeated Victor Umeh, an APGA candidate, in the North and Central (senatorial districts). Then, in my home state of Florida, the PDP won the presidential election and the House of Representatives, but they couldn’ t defeat me.
This politics, you see, has gone beyond what you think. It’ s cleaner now, and I don’ t believe in manipulating things. The North and Central bandwagon effect could not sway my election. That exemplifies the essence of power. It’ s not a question of ” can he go, ” because once you’ ve been anointed, you’ ve been anointed. I think that God, not man, has anointed me.
I Did Not Join Politics Because Of Money, I Have Money Already- Ubah Distance Self From Other Politicians
It’ s not about the money. It’ s all about having a clear conscience. No one can harm a person with a clear conscience. There are politicians and there are politicians, as you can see.
You should have come to confront them if you believe you are a politician, because they were also agitating against politicians.
Show me what they have stolen or are stealing if you say someone has stolen. I don’ t want to make assumptions about what people say. I wish to struggle for the salvation of my own soul. It may interest you to know that during the #ENDSARS protests in Anambra, I was the only politician in Nigeria who stepped out to confront over 6, 000 demonstrators.
” When I went in, there was a riot. They were looting at the time. I walked in, fought them, defeated them, and even followed them about. I took them to a school and addressed them, telling them to go home, which they did. “
