Super Eagles of Nigeria forward, Cyriel Dessers was in action yesterday for Feyenoord in their 6th league game of the Netherlands Eredivisie against NEC Nijmegen at the de Kuip.
The KRC Genk loan star was outstanding for the host after coming on as a second half substitute as he was able to score a late goal yet again which was instrumental in his team’s 5-3 win of the night.
The 26 years old football talent came on for his third appearance for his new club in the 67th minute for Alireza Jahanbakhsh, and he scored the fifth goal for his side in the 92nd minute to make sure the host get all the maximum three points of the night.
The first half of the game was such a balanced one between the two sides as there was nothing separating them at the break which ended 2-2.
The host took double lead in the first half courtesy of goals from Orkun Kokcu and Luis Sinisterra in the 14th and 17th minutes respectively to make it two goals to nil, before the visitor levelled by netting two straight goals from Magnus Mattsson in the 32nd minute and Cas Odenthal in the 44th minute to make it two all draw going into the half time break.
The second half of the game was more thrilling as the visitor took the lead in the 74th minute with a goal from Calvin Verdonk to make it 3-2, before Guus Til levelled for the host in the 80th minute to make it 3-3.
Guus Til in the 89th minute put the host ahead with his brace of the night to make it four goals to three before Cyriel Dessers sealed the deserved win for his side in the eight-goal thriller, as he made it five goals to three in the 90+2 minutes at full time.
The win for Feyenoord in the show of the night has now taken them to the 3rd spot on the table with 15 points in 6 games played and as such be hoping to keep the winning streaks going in their next fixture, so as to continue their pursuit in the competition.
