The Nigerian police succeeded in arresting a police officer identified as sergeant Governor Akpoboloukeme, after he stabbed his colleague sergeant Sapele Eyerindideke to death in the Edepie area of Bayelsa State, on Thursday.
According to reports by Daily Post, the incident occurred at about 7 p. m. on the 4th of November 2021. Akpoboloukeme was arrested at Glory Land gate while attempting to flee to the nearby state.
We learnt that that the deceased Sergeant Eyerindideke is also the cousin of the accused killer. Meanwhile, both of them attended a marriage ceremony.
A source who spoke with the newsmen said they were at the ceremony when the deceased cracked a joke where they were seated but Akpoboloukeme was not happy with the joke and reacted in a violent manner.
At the venue, a friend stepped in and settled the matter between them amicably, the two brothers left the venue with belief that they were going to their separate homes.
But instead of Akpoboloukeme to be going home, trailed the deceased to a secluded place and stabbed him with a dagger on the left part of the ribs and he died instantly.
The State’ s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident to newsmen saying ” An off- duty Police Officer stabbed his colleague with a dagger to death in Yenagoa, over a minor misunderstanding. ”
Butswat disclosed that the lifeless body of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy. Meanwhile, The Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State Command CP Ben Okolo has ordered the detention of the officer and a thorough investigation is underway.

Many feared dead, properties destroyed during the attack in the Zagon Kataf local government area of Kaduna State. The attackers also burned houses during the operation.
According to reports by Daily Post, the attacks were carried out on two villages, Yagbak and Ungwan Ruhugo in Zangon Kataf.
Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Samuel Aruwan, said the military and police authorities have reported the incident to the state government.
Aruwan disclosed that the state Governor, Mallam Nasir El- Rufai has directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to carry out an immediate assessment and provide relief materials to the communities.
