The government of President Muhammadu Buhari has been charged with ” failing to satisfactorily handle the situation of insecurity in the country and doing nothing to solve the mismanagement of the economy under his watch, ” according to human rights attorney Femi Falana SAN.

This was said by Falana in a presentation he presented yesterday at the interactive session celebrating the Abeokuta Club’ s 50th anniversary in Abeokuta, Ogun State, headlined Good Governance or Misgovernance: The Contract Called Democracy.

Falana stated, ” The Federal Government has continued to kick against the development of state police service on the grounds that it is unconstitutional! Despite the decentralization of police functions at the center! ”

Falana added, ” There is no doubt that the Federal Government has reluctantly permitted the state government to establish state or regional security outfits in light of the virtual breakdown of the security architecture of the neocolonial State. They cannot, however, possess weapons.

Falana claims that when confronted with terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, herders, and robbers carrying AK- 47s, members of the regional security units, who are armed with cutlasses and dane guns, ” are expected to commit suicide. ”

” Because the civilian Joint Task Force operatives are given licenses to bear arms and ammunition, I have asked state governments to sue the Federal Government for refusing to grant licences to the personnel of regional security outfits for allowing dangerous criminals to breach the constitutional rights of unarmed citizens to life and dignity, ” the paper stated in part.
