In recent months, there were rumors that the former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan is planning to join APC ahead of the 2023 election. While the report was not confirmed by the former president, many people suggested that the report may be true. Meanwhile, in today s report, Goodluck Jonathan has finally cleared the air about his alleged defection to the APC.
On Wednesday, Goodluck Jonathan made it known that he has not joined another political party. Jonathan stated that he remains a member of the PDP and he would not leave the party unless there is a strong need to do so. Moreover, Jonathan stated that there is no plan or reason for him to leave the PDP. After it was alleged that he may leave the PDP to join APC, Jonathan stated that such a report is nothing but fake news.
According to Naija News, Jonathan’s s media aide has publicly informed the public to ignore the rumors of a planned defection to APC. When his aide was contacted by Naija News, Jonathan’s s aide, Ikechukwu Eze stated that many people have said a lot of things about Goodluck Jonathan which are not true. Particularly, he said the rumors surrounding Jonathan’s s 2023 Presidency and a plan to defect to APC are not true, and therefore, the people should not believe it.
Part of his statement read ” Jonathan is not planning the leave PDP anytime soon. If there is a report out there that states that Jonathan is leaving PDP, that report is fake news, it must be taken seriously or believed by anyone. Good luck Jonathan has his media aide and he can tell them to announce on his behalf, if he is willing to join APC, his media aide would have announced it. ”
” Jonathan is very busy with many things. He does not have time for politics right now and if anything changes, the people would be notified. There is no plan in place for Jonathan to dump the PDP and join any other political party. There is no crisis anywhere in the PDP which would make him want to leave the party to join another party. “
