Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has long been expected to make a run for the country’s top job – his formidable political network, propensity for deal-making and substantial personal wealth give him a head start over many other contenders.
Chief Ahmed Bola Tinubu is the two- term former governor of Lagos State, Nigeria and incumbent national leader of the ruling party, known as APC.
Lately, there’s been so much talk concerning a Tinubu presidency. Don’t dismiss the rumours just yet.
Fortunately, his electoral performance will be determined by a number of factors, one of which is who he chooses as his running mate.
The general view is that Tinubu will run in 2023. He has not held an official position in government since his second term as Lagos governor, which ended in 2007, but his influence national politics has grown.
Since he is from the southwest, he must choose a running mate from another state or region. If he is choose a running mate, the only good option for him is to pick a candidate from the northern region. And since Nigeria is a multi religious country he have to to choose a Christian to increase his chances.
Who will he choose?
Many people may have their own different option but the only credible candidate that fits well into the categories is Simon Lalong.
Simon Lalong is a Nigerian lawyer and politician, who is the present Governor of Plateau State, Nigeria. He will be the best option for the job.
Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, is said to have quiet, gentle and unassuming personality. He known for his notable achievements as governor and credit with the social and economic progress seen in Plateau over the past years.
Also, if Tinubu choose Simon Lalong as his running mate, the Christians from South East and South West would most likely change their views and vote massively for him.
