Top 4 Reasons Why Sunday Igboho Is Better Than Nnamdi Kanu, No. 2 Is A Fact

In the last few weeks, the Nigerian social and political atmosphere has been plagued with a lot of civil crisis and unprecedented clashes between the Nigerian military, individuals and different security outfits.

This is happening at a time when the country is on the verge of teetering apart due economic and financial hardships. Despite the frustrating challenges levelled against the citizenry, the country is yet to guarantee the safety of the common man.

This inability of the government to fulfill its basic responsibility has led to series of resistant moves and political activism and at the helm of this political activism are two notable Nigerians; Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and Mr. Sunday Igboho.

Nigerians have showered on them accolades of praise for their bravery and courage at this time of national distress.

Despite their purposes and goals, one can easily see that Sunday Igboho is more promising and result oriented than Nnamdi Kanu. This is very evident in their approaches to critical issues, media management and support from the populace.

In one of his interviews, Sunday Igboho bluntly said he is nothing like the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu. He said their missions were not alike as the Yoruba people only want justice from killer herdsmen and good governance.

In his words, “I am not Kanu and I am not like Kanu. Kanu is working on his agenda; perhaps, he doesn’t carry his people along. This is about the Yoruba people being killed, raped, extorted, oppressed and dehumanised in their own land. What we want is justice, peace, harmony and good governance,” he told PUNCH in an interview published on Sunday.

In this article, we would try as much as possible to consider the leadership abilities of these two activists on the following basis:

There is an unpopular saying: ” if you want to achieve something, do it yourself. ”

This was very evident in Sunday Igboho’ s approaches. We saw him on live videos confronting the military and the herders. This is a rare feat to so many activists. Taking charge of the confrontation was the least the people expected and it will definitely boost the confidence of his followers. Atleast the mentality of fighting side by side with your leader is worthwhile.

However, on the issue of Nnamdi Kanu, we are yet to see any live video of him leading his followers on a confrontational move. He gives orders from a supposed foreign land without putting into consideration the fate of his followers. This leadership by proxy have left a lot of question unanswered and has done more harm than good to the reputation of this renowned activist.

It is quite surprising how Sunday Igboho’ s week-long effort has led to the mitigation of Fulani herdsmen’ s dominance in the western part of the nation. This is awe inspiring! Recently, the western Governors forum standing on Sunday Igboho’ s efforts developed modalities for the operation of herders in the western territory. This is definitely something one can boast of.

However, on the side of Nnamdi Kanu, the easterners are yet to enjoy any such achievement since the activist moves of their son, Nnamdi Kanu. This might be as a result of his plan structure, maybe he is planning for the long run.

Despite the lack of support from some notable westerners, Sunday Igboho has not taken to the media to insult any of them. Many expected him to at least show his dissatisfaction with the unusual quietness from this notable westerners but he never did, rather, he kept moving in the path he created for himself.

However, this is a direct opposite of Nnamdi Kanu, who has been caught on many occasions insulting and criticizing notable Igbo leaders for not supporting his course; a course he started with neither their consent nor approval. In the past, he has been alleged to have insulted the presidency which ultimately led to the invasion of his residence by the Nigerian operation python dance II.

Though we might not understand his intentions but this is not certainly a best practice.

Despite the critical move by Sunday Igboho, no life was lost and the only property that has been reportedly destroyed is his. This is a clear example of a leader with superb crisis management abilities.

However, the number of lives lost and properties destroyed since the activism of Nnamdi Kanu cannot be tracked. This is so disheartening! Lives being lost for nothing. This is quite evident in the recent clash between the Eastern Security Network (ESN) founded by Nnamdi Kanu and the Nigerian military. This is incredible because declaring war against the military of your country is tantamount to treason.

Nnamdi Kanu is quite a reputable man and we certainly expect him to do better.

From the foregoing, it is very clear that Sunday Igboho has better crisis management abilities than Nnamdi Kanu and his media management is second to known. Therefore, it won’ t be a fallacy to say that; Sunday Igboho would be remembered as a better leader than Nnamdi Kanu.

This is just an opinion. What do you think?
