A man who was identified as Akeem Oladehinde has been sentenced to death by a high court situated in Sagamu area of Ogun state for conspiracy to commit robbery in the state.

According to Punch News, the trial judge, Justice Nasiru Agbelu said the prosection counsel proved its case beyond reasonable doubts before the convict received the judgement.

The trial judge maintained that the convict should not be allowed to interact with other members of the public because he posed a security threat to people.

Information collected revealed that Oladehinde and another suspect who is currently at large were arraigned on seven counts charge which bordered on conspiracy to commit robbery at the Oluke area in the Ado- Odo Ota local government area of Ogun state on 26 July, 2014.

Punch Metro reported that the defendant was arrested by the security operatives when his gang and he invaded Oluke and two other villages in the area.

When he was arraigned in court, the defendant initially admitted to committing the crime alongside his accomplices who lost their lives to the gunfight between them and the security operatives.

However, when the case was brought before justice Agbelu on Thursday, the defendant recant his saying and pleaded not guilty to the seven counts charge that was levelled against him by the prosecutor.

While he was arraigned before the judge, he claimed that he was not among the robbers but he was mistakenly arrested as one of them.

The judge oppose his saying by stating that the prosecution counsel had proven its case beyond reasonable doubts and they had enough evidence to prove his involvement in the robbery scheme.

The defence counsel pleaded unto the court that the convict is a family man and he should be given a chance to turn over a new leaf. The trial judge declined the defence counsel’ s request, noting that the security status of the country is shocking and armed robbery has become widespread in the country. He said the convict should not be allowed to live among the people because he will continue to traumatize them.

The statement of the Judge as quoted from Punch Metro reads, ” It is to be observed that the state of security in the country is worrisome and incidents of armed robbery are now very prevalent. ”

” The defendant should not be allowed back to the society to continue to traumatise fellow citizens. Conspiracy is punishable by death. ”

” The sentence of this court upon you, Rasheed Oladehinde, is that you be hanged by the neck until you are dead. May God have mercy on your soul. ”

Armed robbery is a punishable criminal offence by the law of the state, do not indulge in it!
