In a report published by the Daily Post today, the Fulani herders have pledge to exposed the criminals among them within five months.
The Fulani herdsmen told the Emir of Muri, Alhaji Abbas Tafida, on Monday at his palace in Jalingo that the judgement was made following a series of meetings they held to review the problems confronting them.
However, the herdsmen led by the state Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Alhaji Sahabi Mahmud, pleaded with the Emir to accept their vowed, saying that all the criminal personnel amongst them would be revealed and sent out within five months in order to bring the desired peace to the state.
In a report by the NAN, the Miyetti Allah Chairman read out the promise which was contained in a communique issued after a stakeholders’ gathering that lasted for long hours.
Furthermore, the meeting was attended by the herdsmen and their Ardos and Jauros all over the state as well as the Security Adviser to Gov. Darius Ishaku, rtd Col. Angyo Agbu.
As stated in the communique, the herders and their leaders have agreed to flush out criminals among them within the next 5 months and report back to the Emir on the successes and obstacles they might record within the period of time.
The statement read in part: ” Those who repent would be documented, while those that refused to repent and stop kidnapping and other crimes would equally be handed over to security agents to face the appropriate laws of the land.
” We have agreed not to harbor criminals even if they are our biological children and we have sworn an oath to expose their sponsors no matter their standing in the society. ”
More so, the Fulani herdsmen said that the task of carrying out the work was very huge but absolutely necessary in order to sanitize the Fulani herders and restore their damaged image caused by criminals living among them.
