TRUST NO ONE: Meet The Security Guard Who Conspired With Kidnappers To Abduct His Own Bosses (PHOTOS)


The Edo State Police Command has arrested a security guard who conspired with a kidnap gang to abduct his bosses in Benin City.

The suspect identified as Best Abarawe was arrested together with two other notorious kidnappers, Jacob Goto and Akpadulaha Yamoh.

The suspects have been on the police wanted list for getting involved in several kidnappings including attacks on several operators of sand excavation companies popularly called ” Burrow Pit” in the state.


According to reports, Abarawe was able to get first- hand information about the rich employees due to the close relationship he has with the company. He then hired the kidnappers to abduct them for ransom.


The security guard had allegedly taken the kidnappers to the company where they surveyed the environment before going ahead to kidnap the manager, Mr Kingsley Osazuwa.

He was transported to an unknown destination after passing through Ikpoba River on Benin- Agbor road in Edo state

The kidnappers later contacted the family of the victim, demanding a N10 million ransom.

The company supported with N3. 5 million to effect his release after severe negotiation.

On July 20, the suspects also attacked another sand excavation firm in the city where another manager, Mr Ehikioya was kidnapped.

Ehikoya was also taken through Ikpoba River to an unknown destination. They demanded an unknown ransom and the man was released after the payment.


Two days later, they stormed another Burrow pit in Benin city and kidnapped the Director, who was whisked through Ikpe river to a creek in Delta state.

The story later changed after the security guard who gave information to the kidnappers felt cheated from the portion of the money he received leading to a fallout.

Abarawe fled to Warri in Delta State but was arrested by men of the Edo state police command’ s Anti- Kidnapping and Cyber Crime unit. He then revealed the identities of other members of the gang leading to their arrest.


The Command’ s spokesperson, SP Bello Kontongs, confirmed the arrest assuring that the police will arrest other members who are still at large.

” The police in Edo state will not allow kidnappers and other criminals to take over the public space without arrest” he said.
