Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, the Governor of Ondo State, has stated that his meeting with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the former Lagos State Governor and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, has nothing to do with the 2023 election.
He claimed he was in London to see Tinubu and that the rumors circulating on social media were untrue.
On Sunday, the governor explained his London travel while speaking on a controlled Arise TV program.
Former Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu, whom Akeredolu referred to as the ” capon” of the South, is anticipated to come to the country shortly to meet with him and make key choices, according to Akeredolu.
” APC is a party, ” Akeredolu stated when asked if he will back Tinubu as the party’ s presidential candidate in 2023. The nominee will be chosen by the APC. I’ ve said it before, and I’ ll say it again. I’ m not going anywhere. I’ ll return to my chamber if I leave APC. Whatever the APC chooses, I will support it.
” We traveled to London because we felt it was vital for us to experience it for ourselves. How is he doing? For us, he’ s the capon. But when he arrives, we’ ll be able to make some important decisions. ”
Next month, the governor vowed to nominate more commissioners to his cabinet.
The governor has only appointed four commissioners and a few special advisers since the start of his second term in office in February of this year. The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, the Commissioner for Finance, the Commissioner for Works and Housing, and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice are among the commissioners who have been appointed.
He claimed, however, that his nomination of four commissioners and a few special advisers did not violate the constitution, and that he has sole authority over the number of commissioners to be nominated.
” There is no stipulation as to how much is required to adequately complement the cabinet. There are only the Attorney- General and the Commissioner for Justice listed.
” I will choose the quantity of people who will work with me. We’ ll have more commissioners by the beginning of next month. I need to figure out how many commissioners I want to deal with. Next month, I’ ll have to bring in more individuals. But it can’ t be as many as it was in the previous term since the state’ s finances are in horrible shape, ” the governor explained.
