New development from the Lagos police have confirmed that the body of the two- year- old Abdulmaliki Jamiu, that went missing last week has been found in a canal in Awolowo Street, in the Amukoko area of Lagos.
According to the PUNCH Metro News, we learned that Abdulmaliki, the two years old boy was at his mother’ s shop in Awolowo Street when he went missing around 5. 35 pm, every effort was put in place by his mother to find him but no to avail.
According to the police spokesman’ s statement while confirming the body on Monday said the victim’ s family decided to report the missing child case at the Amukoko Police Division and they organized a search party to find him.
During the cause of searching, a source who spoke with a news correspondent said that the corpse was found in a canal on Awolowo Street.
The source statement said, ” What we gathered was that the boy’ s father Jamiu Mufutawu, said his son was missing and after they conducted a search for him in the area his corpse was found in a canal close to his mother’ s shop.
” What people have been saying is that maybe the boy fell into the canal while attempting to cross a local bridge. His parents reported the incident to the police on September 9th, 2021, but his remains were found on September 10th, 2021. ” the source said.
According to the police reports, they said there was no strangle struggle and no mark of violence was found on the corpse.
Reacting to the incident is The state Police Public Relations Officer CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, who had promised to get back to the news correspondent after being briefed about the cases.
