A Policeman serving at Area Command Omuma Oru East LGA Imo State has been reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen in Owerri.
Inspector Ali Abdu was shot dead in his house on Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021, at Ibiasegbe Oru-West LGA Imo State where he lives with his family. The hoodlums were said to have killed the officer in the presence of his wife and children.
The gruesome murder of security personnel especially the officers of the Nigerian police force has become a rampant situation in the southeast as members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), a paramilitary wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), are agitating to restore an independent state of Biafra.
Meanwhile, based on frequent reports of sporadic shootings, killings, and attacks in the state. The military, police tactical squads, and other security operatives have been deployed to the state to curb the level of insecurity circulation.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bala Elkana, is yet to address the state on the recent development.
