President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of Gabriel Igboanugo, a man he fondly called Daddy when he was the General Officer Commanding, 3 Armoured Division, Nigerian Army, Jos.
The President conveyed his feelings in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Sunday.
Igboanugo, who died at 95, was the Principal Education Officer at Command Secondary School, Jos and had a close relationship with the then GOC.
Adesina said Lady Margaret Igboanugo, the wife of the deceased, informed the President of the demise of her husband in a private letter.
She said: “My husband, who you used to fondly call ‘Daddy,’ passed away the way he lived – peacefully and in comfort – in his home in Ihiala in Anambra.
“He will be buried there on Friday, November 27, 2020.”
Buhari commiserated with the Igboanugo family, urging them to take solace in the fact that their patriarch lived long and touched the lives of many people positively.
