Desmond Elliot is currently trending on social media over the comment he made after the shooting which happened at Lekki Tollgate, Lagos, Nigeria on Tuesday the 20th of September.
In the house, he said let celebrities, social media influencers and motivational speakers to stop the hatred, that they have the constitutional power to change things with their PVC and if they are tired, they should join the government.
He also said if Nigerians are not careful with the way looting is ongoing in the country, in five years to come, we may not have a place to call a country anymore.

Desmond Elliot the speaker of the house said he condemns all the things that happened in Lekki.
He also added that he thanked the speaker on how he Condemned the carnage that happened in Lekki. He said when he entered the comments he couldn’t believe it, children were cursing everywhere, they entered the Oba’s palace and stole the staff of office. He then said in the next five years we won’t have any Nigeria if they don’t start to act now.
He also added that the youth are not the only ones involved during the peaceful protest, they include the looters, those who have destroyed lives are all youths too.
However, in another video, he cleared the air by saying that he wasn’t trying to push any bill to control social media, that he was only trying to inform social media influencers not to use their platform to spread hate in the country.

He then pleaded with everyone that it’s not true, that no state house of assembly has the jurisdiction to pass any kind of bill of such magnitude.
Although that didn’t stop social media users from venting their anger on the actor, even Davido called him out and said that he has destroyed all the good memories he once gave us with his reaction.
While some people said he was wrong to call them children, others call on the people of Surulere to recall what he said.
One social media user said Desmond Elliot expressed that the problem isn’t to get young people into the government because they might be clueless.
Other celebrities were not left out. They also expressed their anger on the lawmaker even as other people ask the people of Surulere not to vote for him in 2023.
Desmond Elliot is a Nollywood actor and a lawmaker who is representing Surulere Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
