Minister Maigari Dingyadi also explained that the Office of the Attorney- General of the Federation will be consulted for legal advice while the office of the Minister of Affairs will also be included in the final verdict because Abba Kyari’ s case involves two countries.
A Recap Of Abba Kyrai’ s Fraud Allegation
It was shocking after Nigerians learned that Abba Kyari was not just involved in a mere scandal, but one that caught the attention of the world, with the Federal Bureau of Investigations seeking to arrest him.
According to the FBI, Abba Kyari is involved in a fraud case perpetrated by Ramon Abbas, aka Hushpuppi: a Nigerian infamous fraudster.
Court documents exposed Abba Kyari after Hushpuppi pleaded guilty to charges bordering on cyber crimes and money laundering.
It would be recalled that federal authorities in the United States investigated Hushpuppi and his crime syndicate after they were busted in Dubai, the United States, and other big cities around the world.
Although Hushpuppi recently pleaded guilty to a multimillion-dollar fraud earlier in July 2021 and faces up to 20 years in jail, court documents revealed that he paid bribes to Abba Kyari: a one-time Nigerian super cop.
The document says Hushpuppi bribed Abba Kyari to have one of his rivals arrested and jailed in Nigeria owing to a dispute that transpired in a fraud business that amounted to the tune of $1. 1 million.
According to the document, Hushpuppi asked Abba Kyari to arrest and jail Kelly Chibuzor Vincent (fellow fraudster) after Vincent tried to sabotage the business by contacting the victim and disclosing to him that he has been scammed.
To this end, Hushpuppi contacted Abba Kyari to arrest and jail Vincent and his request was granted.
To prove it was, Abba Kyari sent pictures of Mr. Vincent in jail and reportedly sent an account number to Hushpuppi for payment for the job that was done.
Notwithstanding, further allegations say Abba Kyari and Hushpuppi have at one time hanging out in Dubai for a business.
Abba Kyari’ s statement On The Allegation
Meanwhile, Abba Kyari denied the allegations hurriedly in a statement, saying he only met Hushpuppi two years ago and never benefitted from him in any way but had only directed him on how to buy Nigerian native attires.
Abba Kyari said:
” Nobody demanded a kobo from Abbas Hushpuppi, ” claiming that he only introduced Mr Abbas, who paid N300, 000 to his cloth vendor.
” Later, he saw some of my native clothes and caps on my social media page, and he said he likes them, and he was connected to the person selling the clothes, and he sent about N300k directly to the person’ s account, ” added Mr Kyari. ” The native clothes and caps (five sets) were brought to our office, and He sent somebody to collect them in our office. ”
FBI Meets IGP, Demands For Abba Kyari’ s Arrest And Extradition
Amidst the scandal, officials of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) met with the Nigerian Inspector- General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, demanding Abba Kyari’ s arrest and extradition to the United States.

Abba Kyari’ s Future: Buhari To Give Final Approval, Says Minister
Minister Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi said:
” The issue of Abba Kyari has become a public domain and I think by now everybody has heard that the police in their very wisdom, in their usual way of becoming transparent and fair to all have set up a committee to investigate all these allegations.
” We have also reported that the committee has submitted the report to the IGP. We have also submitted this report and recommendations to the Attorney- General of the Federation for a legal opinion, thereafter, we will take it to Mr. President for final consideration.
” So, you can see that even though this matter is a local matter here, it has some international connotations. We have to do some due diligence to ensure that we do the right thing. We have to do some consultations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice before a final decision will be taken.
” But what is important is that Nigerians should know that the police management is up and doing and they have done what they are supposed to do. I hope people will wait and see what actions will be taken on this matter. ”
