Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson has in conjunction with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) begun a reconciliatory process to resolve the grievances arising from the outcome of the party primaries ahead of the November 16 governorship election in the state.
Naija News understands that this was made known in a statement by Dickson’s Chief Press Secretary, Fidelis Soriwei who confirmed that some frontline aspirants met with the governor after the election which produced Senator Douye Diri.
The Governor according to Soriwei, said; “the party’s leadership would contact other aspirants to restore them back to the family.”
Some of the governorship aspirants who met with the Governor are; Deputy Governor Rear Admiral John Jonah (rtd); Keniebi Okoko, chief of staff in the Government House, Talford Ongolo.
While speaking on the outcome of the primaries, Dickson who praised the 21 contestants for their maturity and sportsmanship reappointed Ongolo, who resigned to contest the primaries.
The governor advised the political class on the need “to be tolerant and show maturity ahead of the November 16 election.”
Dickson in his statement went ahead to call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant agencies to conduct a credible poll come November 16.
