The 2023 gubernatorial election in Lagos State is around the corner and many permutations are going on as the two main political parties, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) make effort to win the State.
The main opposition PDP is making all possible effort to win Lagos State for the first time and end the supremacy of the ruling party while the ruling APC on the other hand is trying to maintain its dominance in the State. The APC National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu’ s influence in Lagos State has been helping the party to maintain its dominance. PDP will however have to end Tinubu’ s dominance in Lagos politics for them to win the State.
There are indications that the People’ s Democratic Party is making effort towards ending the dominance of the APC National Leader in Lagos politics.
The People’ s Democratic Party (PDP), according to a report by Vanguard Newspaper, has moved to work together with Lagos4Lagos Movement, a group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State aiming to end Tinubu’ s godfatherism in Lagos State in the forthcoming governorship election.
The leader of the group, Abdul- Azeez Olajide Adediran popularly known as Jandor, wants to put an end to Tinubu’ s godfatherism in the State in 2023. On Monday, a high- powered subordination of PDP led by a Board of Trustee member of the party, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, met with the group to collaborate ahead of the Lagos State 2023 governorship election.
The main opposition party in Lagos State has taken a smart decision ahead of the 2023 gubernatorial election and this may turn perfect that could end Tinubu and APC’ s supremacy in Lagos politics.
It should be remembered that the Lagos4Lagos Movement has been attracting the attention of the media and followers since it started in the State. The group made it in winning a few APC members in the State to its camp after it successfully conducted parallel local government and state congresses and elected its APC executives.
Tinubu’ s dominance in Lagos politics might come to an end in 2023, with the collaboration of PDP and the Lagos4Lagos Movement. Remember, the Otege movement that ended Bukola Saraki’ s supremacy in Kwara State politics began like this and at last gained many followers that made Saraki’ s influence in Kwara politics come to an end.
