Why Tinubu refused to address grievances of Babachir Lawal, others – Shittu
As the 2023 presidential election draws near, a former Minister of Communications and Director General (DG) of the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu-Shettima Coalition for Good Governance, Adebayo Shittu, has said his principal (Tinubu), can only give Babachir Lawal, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), an opportunity but not force him to take it.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Lawal, a Christian and one of the Vice-Presidential hopefuls, is unhappy with Tinubu’s choice of a Muslim running mate (Kashim Shettima), and has not hidden his displeasure. But Shittu said the Adamawa-born politician is biting the finger that fed him.
“You cannot force an unwilling horse to drink water. Babachir is the closest Nigerian to Tinubu, and he has been touting this even when we were together as members of the same Federal Executive Council (FEC),” Shittu toldPunchin an interview published on Friday.
“He also never fails to mention that it was even Tinubu who recommended him to Buhari for the position of the SGF. If he now thinks the proper thing is for him to bite the finger that fed him, it is up to his conscience.”
