A murder suspect identified as Omoniyi Ademola, said he murdered Onise of Odo Oro, Oba Gbadebo Ogunsakin, so he could take over his throne.
Ademola who was accused of stabbing the king to death in his palace shortly after the monarch held a traditional meeting with his councel members.
The suspect spoke while he was interviewd by the state Commissioner of Police, Bello Ahmed, at the state police headquarters in Ado Ekiti.
He told the police that his family had duly nominated him to take over from the late king but said the murderd king hindered his success to the throne despite that the town had declared the seat his own.
Speaking on how the incident happened, Ademola said, ” The crown didn’ t belong to the Murderd king, Ogunsakin because the town had last year declared the seat vacant following the death of our previous king

He added that his family nominated him to take over the kingship only for him to resurface again and said he remained the king. My family chosed me in December 2017, and since then, I have been trying to take over. That day when I got to the palace, it was the late Oba (Ogunsakin) that first attacked me and I attacked him back which automatically led to his death.
After his speech the police commissioner ordered that he should be taken back to the custody while his men file a case against him, and charged him to court with immediate effect.
The suspect is currently in prison custody while his case is always been adjourned each time is taken to court for judgment.
