The continuous rise in prices of commodities, services, as well as transportation in the country has been greeted by a number of Nigerians with complaints, and a call for something to be done immediately.
A lot of people have been crying, the food market has for some time been experiencing an unprecedented increase in price, and while this may be attributed to the effect of the pandemic, the widespread hunger in the country, as well as the increased spending attached to transportation has almost made life unbearable for some.
Taking to twitter, a man complained bitterly about how transport from Apapa to Oduade for a single container is now N700 thousand, while from that same Apapa to Alaba international market N1.1 million. He also complained about how his sister spent N850 Thousand to transport her own container to Iponrin last week, saying that it will take 50 years to undo the damage president Muhammadu Buhari has done to this country.
The high cost of moving containers out of Apapa, as well as other levies that must be settled for clearance could be the major reason why imported goods have suffered an abnormal increase in price. Besides that, the increase in the price of petroleum and food has indicated that Nigeria’s inflation rate is not where it used to be, and now everyone including businessmen are complaining.
