Many Facebook users have stormed their respective media pages to react to the statement made by Buhari’ s media aide. On Monday, a well- known media aide of president Buhari, Ajuri Ngelale sent a strong message to the governor of the river state over his move to collect VAT in his state. In his message to Wike, Ajuri Ngelale accused the river state governor of being intolerant and tribalistic.
According to Punch News, Buhari’ s aide, Ajuri Ngelale told Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike that the Federal Government has always promoted and protected Nigeria’ s interest. He stated that the VAT generated in the country is not one by only the state government. In his word, he alleged that the federal government has a certain percentage that it contributes to the VAT given yearly to the 36 states in the federation.
Adding to his point, he urged Nigerians to dismiss reports of the alleged stealing of oil money from river state. Ajuri Ngelale in his word stated that the federal government has not used or spend any oil money belonging to the river state government. Meanwhile, he urged states in the country to stop collecting any form of VAT because it would further deepen the problem of the country. If all state goes ahead with VAT tax collection, Ajuri Ngelale alleged that the people would be the ones to suffer.
Part of his statement read, ” I am not part of the move of some state governors to collect VAT tax in their states. Anything that does not promote one Nigeria should not be supported or embraced in any way. VAT should not be an issue now and all politicians are supposed to promote one Nigeria. It is said that some politicians have taken the VAT issues along ethnic lines. ”
After the statement made by Buhari’ s aide, Punch News published a copy of the news on the platform’ s Facebook page. Less than 30 minutes after the news publication, Nigerians stormed the comment section to react to the statement of Buhari’ s aide. A media user identified as Jerry Bieh alleged that Buhari’ s aide might have been paid to say what he said. In his word, he said ” You’ re employed to tell lies. That’ s what every Buhari’ s aid does. ”
